 History

In early 1998, Gwinnett County became home to the third campus of Aviation Institute of Maintenance. The school resided on the Gwinnett County Airport, in Lawrenceville, Georgia until 2010. In order to support the increasing student population the decision was made to relocate to a new larger facility. Aviation Institute of Maintenance is now located in Duluth, Georgia, a suburb in the northeastern section of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The Aviation Institute of Maintenance-Atlanta is now home to a modern facility of over 100,000 square feet on 16 acres. The facility supports 30 large classrooms, a large library to support students' needs and three student break areas. Dedicated labs are available for welding, sheet metal, composites and avionics with the hangar/lab area of approximately 61,000 square feet to accommodate aircraft and engine maintenance. Aircraft taxi space is available on site as well as an indoor engine test cell for the testing of aircraft engines. There are 600 parking spaces for student's convenience and a mass transit bus stop located on the property as well. The student to Instructor ratio is 25 to 1.
