Procedures for taking your Airframe and Powerplant tests after graduation

     Congratulations on your completion of the Aviation Maintenance Technician program here at the Aviation Institute of Maintenance. The following information is here to assist you in the procedure for completing your written tests. Unlike your General Written test, you are able to take your Airframe and Powerplant tests anywhere you want.

The steps that you need to take are as follows:

1. Contact the North Florida Flight Standards District Office (FSDO) to obtain FAA Form 8610-2. You MUST make an appointment as the FAA does not take walk-ins for this service.

2. You must have your Completion Certificate from the Aviation Institute of Maintenance. Take this to your appointment, along with one of the following forms of identification:

• State issued Drivers License
• Government Identification card (United States only)
• Military Identification Card
• Pilot's License
• Up to date Passport (If you are not a United States citizen, you MUST have this).

3. To Schedule an exam (AFTER you have your FAA Form 8610-2), you must call LaserGrade at 1-800-211-2754. You will need a credit card to pay for it over the phone. All tests MUST be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. I recommend that you give them your email address so they can send you a receipt for your purchase.

Following is a list of the LaserGrade testing sites in the Central Florida area. I recommend that you call them to see when their testing hours are, so you can make the necessary arrangements to test there.
