Mrs. Karlene Jaggan

Medical Assisting

Program Coordinator

Thank you for visiting the Medical Assisting page.  Did you know that according to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, Medical Assisting is expected to be one of the fastest growing fields over the next decade?  There are many opportunities for employment especially if you have formal training and pass your certification examination.  The Medical Assisting staff is here to provide you with the tools you need to become a Certified Medical Assistant.

You may choose to student the Clinical aspect of Medical Assisting where you will learn skills to work in the back office taking patients’ vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, collecting and preparing lab specimens, drawing blood, and sterilizing medical instruments among other tasks.  In your last semester, you will participate in an externship to gain field experience.

Management Focus students learn the skills needed to work in the front side of medical offices.  You will learn about a patient’s medical records, billing and insurance, scheduling appointments, answering the phone, greeting patients, and using office equipment in addition to many other tasks.

The Medical Assisting instructors bring many years of hands-on experience into the classrooms to share current trends and real world scenarios to supplement the information taught.

We look forward to helping you on your way to a career in Medical Assisting!
