Hello! I am Willie Harrison, the Career Services Coordinator at Centura College-Columbia. I am committed to assisting students and alumni develop career and life-planning skills, acquire experience, master strategies, and seek rewarding employment. My goal is to help foster meaningful relationships between employers and students/alumni in order to meet the dynamic challenges of todays workplace.
Planning for a career requires careful attention and our job is to help you be successful from start to finish. Success in your career begins with a wise decision concerning your field of study and continues on throughout your college experience with networking, externships, job-shadowing and preparation for your job search in the finals stages of your study. I am here to help you through this transition! The Career Service Office provides expert guidance with resume preparation, successful interviewing techniques, and job-search strategies. It also hosts panel discussions with outside professionals who offer their services. A mock interviewing program and one-to-one counseling are available to strengthen your interviewing skills.
To help you develop these skills we provide assistance in developing five career planning steps that are beneficial:
- Assess Yourself
- Explore Possibilities
- Inform Yourself
- Prepare Yourself
- Present Yourself
Once a student has mastered these steps a successful job search is very realistic.
Over 70% of our graduates are employed after successful graduations due to a positive attitude, self-confidence and knowledge in their new chosen profession. The aim of Centura College-Columbia Career Services is to assist students in setting clear, personally satisfying goals and in identifying strategies to achieve those goals.
Thank you for considering and/or choosing our college and I look forward to working with you in your chosen career path.
Good Luck!
~Willie Harrison~
